Findlater Castle is situated along the stunning Aberdeenshire coastline, nestled between the towns of Cullen to the west and Sandend and Portsoy to the east. From Cullen, visitors can enjoy a scenic coastal walk, passing the beautiful Sunnyside Beach, an ideal spot for wild camping.
For visitors arriving by car, access is straightforward via the A98 from either direction, clearly marked by brown tourist signs. A small, informal car park is available near the Barnyards of Findlater farm. From here, a grassy path leads through fields directly toward the castle and an informative display board. Please note that paths near the castle and ruins can be hazardous; caution is advised.
There is also a fantatstic coastal walk from Cullen, taking in Sunnyside Beach. Please also see our frequently asked questions page.
Please note: The ruins are highly unstable and could become hazardous at any moment; any exploration of the ruins is at your own risk. If you see any visible signs of fallen masonry, it’s advised that you admire the ruin from afar.
